Privacy policy
Last updated: October 29, 2026
DAAN FASHION JEWELRY CO., LIMITED operates the RUE MARIELLE online store. This policy explains how personal information is handled when you browse the store, place an order, use an account or contact us. It also explains the privacy choices and rights that may be available to you.
For the personal information we process to run the store and manage our relationship with you, we are the data controller where that term applies. Shopify hosts the store and also processes information for its own purposes in the circumstances explained below.
Information we collect or process
The information involved depends on how you use the store. Personal information means information that identifies you, or that can reasonably be linked to you. It can include:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Contact and delivery details | Your name, email address, telephone number, billing address and shipping address when supplied. |
| Order and transaction information | Products, selected colours and sizes, cart contents, order references, purchase amounts, payment status, delivery details, returns, refunds and relevant correspondence. |
| Account information | Information used for available account or sign-in features, account preferences and related records. |
| Support communications | Information you provide through email or a contact form, including photographs or other material you choose to send about an order. |
| Device and usage information | Your browser and device information, IP address, identifiers, interactions with pages and features, and information collected through cookies or similar technologies. |
| Payment-related records | Transaction references, the method used, payment confirmations and other payment information made available by the relevant payment services. |
Payment details entered during checkout are handled through Shopify and the payment services used for that transaction. Do not email us a full payment-card number, card security code, account password or identity document when asking an ordinary product or order question.
Where information comes from
- You provide information when you enter details, place an order, use an account or communicate with us.
- The store and its technology providers collect device, usage and cookie information through operation of the website.
- Relevant payment, shipping and other service providers may provide information needed to administer a transaction, fulfil an order, handle a return or address a problem.
How information is used
We use relevant information to operate the store, process orders and payments, arrange delivery, administer returns and refunds, respond to enquiries and maintain transaction records. It also helps us remember relevant preferences, understand how the store is used, address technical problems and improve its operation.
Security and fraud-prevention uses can include protecting accounts and transactions, detecting misuse and investigating suspicious or unlawful activity. We may also use information to meet legal obligations, respond to valid legal requests, resolve disputes and establish or protect lawful rights.
If you subscribe to marketing communications, relevant contact details and preferences are used to send them and manage your choices. You can unsubscribe using the option in a marketing message. Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent necessary communications about an order, account or return.
Where analytics, advertising or personalisation features are used, information about interactions with the store may support those features, subject to applicable consent requirements and privacy choices.
Information shared with service providers and others
Operating an online store involves sharing information needed for the relevant service. Recipients may include Shopify, payment services, carriers and delivery providers, hosting and technology services, and providers helping us with support, security or store operation.
Where marketing or advertising features are used, relevant partners may receive information for those features in accordance with applicable law and available choices. A use described as a "sale", "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under a privacy law may be subject to an opt-out right even where the ordinary meaning of those terms is different.
We may disclose information where you direct us to do so, where required by law or a valid legal process, or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend lawful rights. Information may also be involved in a lawful transfer or reorganisation of the business, subject to applicable safeguards and obligations.
Shopify's role
Shopify hosts and provides technology for the store. Information you submit, and information about access to or use of the store, is transmitted to or processed by Shopify and relevant providers so the services can operate.
Shopify may also process information for its own purposes when providing platform services or enhanced features. Its responsibility for that processing is separate from ours. Information about Shopify's practices and rights relating to its processing is available in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and through the Shopify Privacy Portal.
Contact us about information we handle for the RUE MARIELLE store. Use Shopify's privacy channels where a request concerns processing for which Shopify is responsible.
Cookies, analytics and privacy choices
The store uses cookies and similar technologies for relevant functions, which can include session and cart operation, preferences, security, analytics or personalisation. Some are needed for requested features. Others may be subject to consent or opt-out choices depending on the technology and applicable law.
Use any privacy or consent controls displayed by the store and visit Your Privacy Choices for available data-sharing choices. Browser settings can also control some cookies. Restricting cookies may affect functions such as maintaining a cart or signing in.
Applicable opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, are handled through the storefront's supported privacy tools where required by law. A choice for one browser or device may not automatically identify every other browser or device you use. Shopify's privacy information explains choices relating to its own processing.
Retention and security
Retention depends on the information and why it is needed. Relevant factors include completing an order or return, maintaining an account, handling enquiries, satisfying legal recordkeeping requirements, preventing fraud and resolving disputes.
We use appropriate measures for the information handled through the store. No internet transmission or storage system can guarantee complete security. Avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed for your enquiry, and keep any account sign-in details secure.
International processing
Our business is based in Hong Kong. Shopify and other providers may process or store information in countries outside your own. The privacy laws in those places may differ from those where you live.
Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, the relevant processing must use an appropriate legal mechanism. Information about Shopify's transfer arrangements is available through its privacy information. Contact us if you have questions about a transfer relating to information we control.
Rights available to you
Depending on your location and applicable law, your rights may include requesting access to information, correcting inaccuracies, requesting deletion, receiving a portable copy, restricting or objecting to certain processing, and opting out of relevant sale, sharing or targeted-advertising uses.
Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent. Withdrawal does not change the lawfulness of processing that took place before it. Rights can be subject to legal conditions or exceptions, including where records must be retained for a legal obligation.
Use the available privacy controls or contact service@ruemarielle.com to make a request. We may need to confirm your identity or authority to act before responding. Where the law allows an authorised agent to act for you, we may need evidence of that authority. We will handle requests within the requirements of applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Children's information
The store is not a service directed at children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review the matter and handle any appropriate request under applicable law.
Other websites
Links to other websites lead to services with their own privacy practices. Read their policies before providing information there. An external service does not become subject to this policy simply because our store links to it.
Complaints and changes to this policy
Contact us if you have a concern about information we handle. Depending on where you live, you may also have a right to appeal a response or complain to a relevant data-protection authority.
Updates to this policy will appear on this page with a revised date. We will provide any additional notice required by applicable law. The version currently posted should be read together with the privacy controls available on the store.
